MSU Joins Big 12, Bolts for Pac-10

MSU joins Big 12 so it can move on to Pac-10

Springfield, MO—The changing landscape of college football has spawned another leap of leagues here in Southwest Missouri. On Friday, Missouri State University announced plans to withdraw from The Gateway Conference to accept a bid into the Big 12 conference. Officials announced the change to the Big 12 during a press conference then immediately followed up  with another announcement: MSU will be leaving the Big 12 and headed to the Pac-10.

“In today’s fiscally challenged environment, it is imperative that we take advantage of every opportunity to delivery returns for our community, our students and our student athletes,” said MSU president Dr. James Cofer.

MSU was invited into the Big 12 Conference to fill the void left by Colorado and Nebraska, who split for the Pac-10 and Big 10 respectively. Big 12 representatives said they were seeking to bolster the crumbling league by adding another school with a football program that had a strong local following and selected MSU as the first conference replacement. “MSU has a great Bear Fest Village, and they have cool uniforms….I just can’t believe they were with us for like 20 minutes, then left for the Pac-10. What the what is going on around here?!” said a Big 10 executive who preferred to remain anonymous as he is seeking employment with another conference.

MSU made the jump from the Big 12 to the Pac-10 to gain access to better recruiting, higher profile match ups and a share of the funds generated by the powerhouse conference.

“This is the dawning of a new day for the Pac-10,” commissioner Larry Scott said shortly after announcing MSU as the conference’s 12th member.

Nebraska can’t stand the heat (Texas) so they are getting out of the ktichen. Too bad Ohio State, Michigan, and Iowa will also beat them. I wonder where the Cornhuskers will go next in search of the elusive championship season.

I think it would be great if the Big 2 didn’t give up rights to the name forcing the Big 10 to stay the Big 10 with 12 schools

The Big 12 has 10 schools, the Big 10 has 12 – Perfect, I had a hard enough time explaining to my girlfriend why it made sense the Big 10 had 11 schools.

Then State Auditor opened up an investigation into how we commingled our attendance counts from basketball with football in order to come up with the required average of 15000 to play FBS football. And that caused her to lose the election, so we don’t have to sweat that one.
