Forsyth, MO- Due to the critical success of the drama “Winter’s Bone”, filming for the sequel, Summer’s Kidney will start this May. The entire cast will return, stating “They left us in the Ozarks to die. Please someone help us. Call a limo.”
Sources say the plot revolves around Ree trying to find a kidney for her baby sister. There is a suitable match found in her third cousin twice removed known simply as “Summer”. The real conflict comes to light when she discovers the Summer is a meth addict and is impossible to find.
“Ree will be walking around a lot,” states director Debra Granik. “Also a lot of shots of barking dogs, hauntingly beautiful woods, dilapidated structures, and skinned animals.”
Granik also wants to make sure the theme and message is not lost in the sequel.
“People thought the first film was about the dangers of meth and importance of family. That is not true at all. I just wanted to show how crappy Missouri is and how all Missourians are cranked out meth heads who only live in trashy houses guarding by a dog on a chain. God I hate that state.”
Rumors are that the sequel will be more action packed. With a chase scene through the Branson landing, a shoot out at the Branson Bell, and a climatic roller coaster sword fight at Silver Dollar City.
“Winter’s Bone made like no money, so I need to jazz it up a bit with more action. Was having a CGI meth mutant over the top? Yes. Was approving a line of action figures based on random meth mutants not even in the movie selling out? Yes. Am I going to sleep well tonight on a pile of money wearing mink skin pajamas. Yes.
The movie will be set to release next summer, with a follow up Autumn’s Toe Nails to be released sometime in 2014.
