Springfield, MO – New FOX affiliate KRBK announced today that they’ve hired beloved Sesame Street icon Mr. Snuffleupagus as their new spokesman. Snuffy, as he’s commonly known commented “KRBK is a great station, they’re just like me…no one believes they exist, but I do. Big Bird can see both of us.” KRBK stated “We know we’re jerking the Ozarks around about our signal, so we thought it would be a great idea to hire a spokesman who can relate to our situation. We do note that Big Bird can get KRBK since he put an antenna on his head and he’s tall enough to get our signal”

FOX KRBK also commented, ”We really are going all out to convince people we’re for real. The fact we thought transmitters grew on trees was just wrong. We then bought some blue pills thinking they’d get our tower up, but all it did was create smurfs” Snuffy went on to say, “I really feel sorry for them, I went through this for 15 years on Sesame Street, and finally someone other than Bird saw me”.

Big Bird added, “I get FOX KRBK and although they have an unhealthy obsession with the Rams, I still watch their infomericals, and really bad cutins. At my lake cabin, FOX KRBK is about the only thing I can get, and hopefully when I get my satellite dish, I can watch something other than this. I miss watching Mister Rogers.”

KRBK is working to get a signal on the air by April 31.

In order to watch Rams football on TV this Fall, Springfield fans will charter busses to Osage Beach where they can actually get the new station’s signal. FOX network officials are reportedly looking for a new affiliate for St Louis whose signal cannot be received by anybody. So fans from St Louis will also drive to Osage Beach. They are planning some great tailgate parties at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park until cold weather arrives.

Just as the state of Missouri did not gain enough population in the census to keep 9 Congressmen, the Springfield area did not gain enough population to keep a FOX TV affiliate.

Well, in all fairness, you CAN get KRBK on cable, DISH, & DirecTV. That being said, I almost fell out of my chair laughing at “We know we’re jerking the Ozarks around about our signal.” I know people with converter boxes who won’t get FOX now. Plus, KRBK said long before getting FOX that “we’ll have an over the air signal soon.” So the question is, does their definition of “soon” mean sometime before or after the next Presidential Election?

We make fun of KRBK now, but watch like 10 years down the road: “MyFOX49 News at 10; now #1 in the Ozarks weeknights with Ethan & Sara Forhetz, Chief Meterologist Brandon Beck, & sports with Joe Hickman. Yes, we ripped your heart out, KY3. Bwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!”

The funny part is that FOX dumped channel 27-1 due to am impasse over fees earned by the station from cable and satellite providers. So FOX turned to channel 49-1 which has an antenna located more than 50 miles from downtown Springfield so everybody has to watch them on cable or satellite. Maybe that’s why channel 49-1 opened an advertising sales office close to their Mediacom buddies in Springfield.

The Lake of the Ozarks is an interesting area to visit, but I don’t know if any KY3 personalities would want to move away from Springfield unless it’s a move to a bigger market somewhere.
