NON-CELEBRITIES REACT TO EMMY NOMINATIONS

Locals express range of emotions

Springfield, MO – Last week, Hollywood’s television community stood at attention as the nominees for the 65th Annual Emmy Awards were announced.  When asked how she felt about the nominations in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category, Beth Moss of Springfield noted that she did not watch TV for religious reasons, but she heard Elaine Stritch was a wonderful actress.  (Note: Stritch is nominated in the Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category.)

James Parson of Nixa was agitated and outraged over the nominations.  “So many good people and shows were snubbed!  I have my secretary doing research right now to determine who I can file a complaint with.  So many Netflix shows were nominated! Why not give an Emmy to my local Redbox??  Downton Abbey is on PBS for crying out loud! Is that even still a channel anymore?”  After a small amount of research, I confirmed PBS is still currently a channel in your local channel lineup, and I did receive word that Redbox machines are not eligible to be nominated for any Emmy award.

Not everyone was upset, though.  Jan Lynch from Republic was happy for the cast and crew of her favorite show, Arrested Development.  “I know the show hasn’t been on in years, but darnit I’m glad it’s finally getting the respect it was due in 2004!  That Jackson Bateman is a treasure!”  After further research, I uncovered that the actor Ms. Lynch was referring to was Jason Bateman, and he is nominated this year for Lead Actor in A Comedy Series for his work on the recently-released new episodes of Arrested Development.

Good luck to all those nominated – some of us might watch to see if you win.
