Nationwide Tour Awaits Next Name Change

The Price Cutter Charity Championship enters its 20th year this summer at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield awaiting yet another name change. Over the past twenty years the tournament has been know by several monikers including the Ben Hogan Tour, Nike Tour, Buy.com Tour and its current iteration named for Nationwide Insurance.

“Well I hope that they rename the tourney Baldknobbers Jamboree Tour next year,” said local golf fanatic Shooter McGavin.

John Daly is expected to vie for tournament hosting rights next year at his Murder Rock Golf and Country Club where he’ll be chain smoking Camels while shirtless and shoeless, sporting only jeans. “Further embracing the stereotypical culture of the region is something I like to promote in order to break down cultural divides,” said Daly.

“A name is just a name, there have been several examples of famous men going by pen names, pseudo-names or aliases. Why not the same for a golf tournament? It only adds to the mystic and allure of our event,” said a local tour spokesman, “I recommend the PGA A.K.A. Tour myself.”

The Nationwide Tour event runs August 13th through the 16th, opposite the PGA Championship in Minnesota.Tournament officials announced that this year’s purse has increased to a record $625,000. The winner’s share has been boosted to $112,500.The Price Cutter Charity Championship has donated more than $7 million to local charities during the its first 19 seasons under the banner of the Tour soon to be formerly known as the Nationwide Tour.
